What is a SPECIALTY CONSULTATION?

a CONSULTATION is figuring out what the problem is and discussing what to do about it

Video conference telemedicine consultations allow you to be more comfortable in your own home or other private conversation area.  It is an interaction very much focused on YOU and your concerns or issues. Providers typically use focused listening as a vital aspect of the physician-patient relationship and interaction. The consultation allows the provider to obtain information from you about your past medical history, your current situation and concerns you may have.  It allows them to get a detailed picture of your presentation, and helps them to formulate the best medical care plan.  It is important to remember, no two patients are alike.  The best providers focus on each patient as the unique individual they are.  Seek out experienced professionals like this.

You do need to invest some effort in preparation BEFORE the consultation, as the consultation is necessarily time limited. There are specific forms available to fill out for treatment options.  That content then guides the consultation discussion.  You will learn why you have the issues and you will learn what can be done for them. Available treatment options will be explained.  Each detail regarding medications will be addressed as well. Providers will need to verify your identity, date of birth, mailing address, phone number, email address, etc.  These demographic details are required by state medical boards as items in appropriate medical records.  Please have these items available when you schedule your consult.

Medical specialty consult fees of these types are generally $200-$300 dollars in an office setting.

Quality telemedicine providers can be found who provide consults for much less and they often waive the consultation fees if a patient purchases services from them.  Just ask.
